RACETALK: THE WEBINAR SERIES – Session 4

  • calendarJuly 8, 2021
  • timer3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Description: Racism is deeply embedded in American society. Systems, structures, policies, practices, narratives and behaviors all work together to perpetuate racism and discrimination, impeding racial progress and the ideals that we espouse to the world. Given its long history of gruesome and inhuman behaviors and the current racial climate in the U.S., conversations and practical interventions are more important than ever. Using the Pyramid of White Supremacy as the framework for this 4-part series, we investigate the covert and socially-acceptable factors and narratives that reinforce implicit bias, racial prejudice, and racial stereotypes; participants examine their individual complicity in a system of racial dominance; and we present practical ways to address issues of racism and discrimination.

These 2-hour workshops can increase your capacity to:

– Understand white supremacy and how it has been (and continues to be) used to dominate other racial groups;

– Recognize and accept personal responsibility for creating social change;

– Identify, talk productively about, and take meaningful action in individual spheres of influence to address the reverberations of racism; and

– Utilize tools to reach collective impact and ignite social change.
